Minified Java Runtime

The following Local Edition components require a Java runtime:

  • Cache

  • Loader (CacheLoader in v6.0.0; Loader from v6.1.0+)

  • PlatformAPI

  • TrafficManager

  • LogCollector (introduced in v6.2.0)

When you build an image, a minified version is created and used, instead of a full JRE or Java SDK. Refer to Building Images for more information.

The minified JRE removes dependence on vulnerable libraries that are otherwise required by a Java SDK or full JRE.
